Veronica van Hoogdalem (22) is Meet Kate Foundation's new ambassador. This was announced at the 5th anniversary of the foundation on the 27th of April 2012. Veronica is known from Dutch TV-shows like: The Pain Game, So You Think You Can Dance, and the music channel TMF. Veronica will be particularly committed to gaining more recognition among younger people. Veronica: "I want to make sure that youngsters all over the world know what the Meet Kate Foundation is doing for their peers in Ghana. Furthermore I am supporting the projects of the Meet Kate Foundation to show people the ''other side'' of Africa. Africa doesn't only have poor and starving children, but there are so many inspiring and hopeful children as well". The Meet Kate Foundation is an initiative that focuses on youth and education in Ghana. Through various projects they strive to improve the living conditions of Ghanaian children. Veronica supports the mission and vision statement of the Meet Kate Foundation. "Since I am half Ghanaian myself, my heart has always been partially in Ghana. I am aware of the circumstances in which some Ghanaian families are and I am very pleased that foundations such as Meet Kate, are committing to the future of young people and families in Ghana." At the moment the Meet Kate Foundation is doing this with projects such as a Children's Home and a daycare centre. The foundation is also starting on building of a primary school to be able to provide quality education for 200 children. - To mean something for somebody else -
The strength of the Meet Kate Foundation is in the fact that self-reliance and sustainability are a very high priority. Investments in local businesses such as a cocoa plantation and a chicken farm ensure that the projects of the Meet Kate Foundation will be independent within five years . And that's what counts! Veronica: "The local community is directly involved in all of Meet Kate Foundation's projects , and that is what makes this organization so special. The Meet Kate Foundation ensures that the people are not completely reliant on foreign aid, but that they are just getting some support that leads them in the right direction." - Visiting -

The TV hostess is taking her new role very seriously. ''Being an ambassador of the Meet Kate Foundation means a lot to me, because together with this foundation I will be able to show people the positive side of Africa and the potential that there is. I am proud that there is a Dutch foundation that is so concerned and involved with the welfare of my fellow Ghanaians. For me, this is the 'best of both worlds'; collaborating with Dutch and Ghanaians, and being able to ensure that there is long-term investment in the future of Ghanaian youth."
